We are delighted to announce that ASLIB members can get an exclusive 20% discount at this year's Managing public sector information event taking place 1 March in London. This one-day conference is essential for public sector professionals who are responsible for handling and sharing public and back office information.
Key topics will include storage and access to information through cloud computing and electronic document systems and analysing and reporting information with geographic information and business intelligence. Join other senior professionals at this timely opportunity to debate how information can be managed more effectively in this changing landscape.
Hear from Andrew Stott, the Cabinet Office's director of digital engagement, as he addresses how to realise the value and power of information and the implications of an increasingly open approach to information access.
Other speakers sharing their expert knowledge and experience include:
Neil Ackroyd, director of data collection and management, Ordnance Survey
Alex Dewsnap, divisional director of partnership development and performance, London Borough of Harrow
John Kirkpatrick, director of studies, Audit Commission
Alan Smith, Principal Methodologist, Data Visualization Centre, Office of National Statistics
Carol Tullo, director, Office of Public Sector Information, part of The National Archives
Make informed decisions about your information
Don't miss out on your chance to join them and a host of your colleagues at this forward thinking conference that will shape how you manage information in the future. Visit www.kable.co.uk/managing-information
The format of the event will be 1 hour workshops repeated depending on the number of people registering to attend them, keeping in mind that each classroom can take on up to 25 people. The idea is to increase the benefit of the interaction of small groups on learning and the possibility to offer more adaptable contents, depending on the interaction between facilitator and attendees. The programme will follow shortly.
Friday 16 April 2010 will be a Corporate Day. As a consequence, the contents offered that day will primarily cater for the needs of translation agencies and companies - workflow management, TMS, CAT tools from a project management point of view, automated translation, IT hardware and software and other issues.
Saturday 17 April (all day) and Sunday 18 April (half day) will be Freelance Days. There will be workshops on CAT tools, DTP, IT and other translation industry related issues.
The conference will be framed with social and culinary events to provide plenty of networking opportunities. On Sunday afternoon, there will be a visit of Tolkien's world as the conference will take place in the heart of Tolkien's country led by the author Bob Blackman.
The 2009 Translating and the Computer 31 Conference was a great success! Our thanks to all who took part.
