Introduction
News & Events Committee
Members Blog
The Aslib Engineering & Technology Group was formed to cater for the needs of anyone with an interest in engineering and technology information. It attracts a wide range of information workers in all fields of interest and also professional practitioners who are interested in information. Its current members are drawn from a wide field which includes aerospace, computing, construction, energy, informatics, manufacturing, information systems and research.
The Group Aims:
- to identify and establish contact with librarians and information professionals serving the engineering and technological communities
- to facilitate their contact with each other, either through printed, personal or virtual means
- to enable their professional growth and development
- to enable the sharing of knowledge within these communities
- to keep them informed of new products, services and developments within librarianship and information science
- to promote best practice
Activities: Visits are arranged to a variety of organisations of relevance to engineering and often include an opportunity to see the library or information unit. Visits allow members to meet and network with other people in the profession and learn how information needs are met in a range of different environments.
The group regularly organises whole - day and afternoon workshops (click here for forthcoming events). All group activities are designed to bring practitioners and information professionals together, to create an effective exchange of views and needs.
