TIPS
Applicants
will be selected according to how many of the required
job skills they possess. Here are some selection tips
for the interview process:
PREPARATION
Prepare
a checklist of areas which need to be explored for each
individual candidate i.e. gaps on CVs, clarification of
employment and education dates etc.
INTERVIEW
SKILLS
- Try
to put the candidate as ease at the start of the interview
- Prepare
your questions prior to the interview thus ensuring
a consistent approach for all interviews
- Ask
open-ended questions and use pauses to encourage the
candidate to talk
- Be
aware of body language and other indirect signs of attitude
- End
the interview making sure the candidate knows the next
step
- To
get the most out of each candidate be prepared to listen
and make notes for future reference
INTERVIEW
QUESTIONS
Your
questions should be geared to get the most out of the
candidates you interview. All interviews should clarify
candidate's qualifications, experience, achievements,
attitude, ability and willingness to carry out the role
in question to the best of their ability. Verification
can be in the form of references.
MAKING
AN OFFER
Prepare
a checklist and score the candidates according to the
notes obtained during the interview. Along with the reference
received this should make the decision easier.
