Interviewing Skills (half day workshop)

Programme Features

  • Preparation for interview – who, what, when, where, why and how?
  • Opening the interview
  • Running and controlling the interview
  • Closing and next steps
  • Using effective questions through behavioural interviewing
  • Active listening and looking out for body language signals
  • Reviewing your own performance

Why you should attend:

Recruiting new staff and management isn’t about taking on someone who ‘interviews well’. It’s about seeing how they will fit in with the team and the organisations culture as well as the skills, knowledge, experience and behaviours that they can bring to that organisation. It’s also about getting the right person who, will not only fill the gap but, will develop and enhance that job role in the future. If we just replace someone who has left with a similar person, we stand still – and that means disaster for the organisation in the long term.

This workshop will introduce you to a structured approach but will also give you the tools to take back to the workplace and ensure that your selection and recruitment of new employees is fair, effective and enables you to get it right every time.

On completing the course, you will be able to:

  • Assess suitable candidates for the role
  • Prepare effective questions and show excellent listening skills
  • Open, run and close relaxed interviews
  • Gain realistic examples from the candidate on the skills, knowledge, experience and behaviours they have and how they have demonstrated those in the past.
  • Make an informed decision to ensure the right person for the role
