Knowledge Management is the broader term as it recognises
the inter-connected nature of people (tactic knowledge),
processes and information in organsational activity.
Information Management is an important component of
Knowledge Management but must be seen and understood
in the broader context.

with the support and commitment of top management and
including a willingness to appraise and probably change
the culture of the organisation. Initiatives must also
be related to business objectives. Specific projects
include the development of Knowledge Directories such
as so called "Yellow Pages", the encouragement of personal
learning through competency planning, virtual teams,
the development of communities of practice, the "soft"
balance sheet to articulate the knowledge capability
