Why choose this career path?

Libraries, with their collections of resources, have been around for millennia. Today the rapid growth in available information has put the emphasis increasingly on electronic media. Computers are used to store information in various ways, and to access information sources on a world-wide scale through such media as the Internet and online databases. Due to this development the need exists for information specialists who can collect data from these modern media, as well as the more traditional hard copy sources, manipulate and store the results in a variety of ways.
